The Community and Health Equity Project (CHEP) is a 501(c)3 nonprofit that was started in 2017. The organization was created to help close population disparities by meeting individuals and communities where they are and integrating support in practical ways that make a difference.
As an organization, our top priority is to engage and include all populations for better health—with a special focus on the people of color who most often have the least resources to achieve and maintain optimal health and quality of life conditions.
Prior to forming CHEP as a 501(c)3 in 2017, the founders of CHEP operated Save the Community Foundation (SCF) for many years. The focus of SCF was to raise funds and awareness for nonprofits across the world. The work of CHEP and SCF includes:
- Purchasing bed nets in the fight against malaria in Sub-Saharan African countries
- Partnering with New Directions, Inc. to support services for veterans experiencing homelessness and addictions
- Providing fund support to My Sister’s Place, a day program for homeless women and children
- Mentor recruitment and financial contributions to Court Appointed Special Advocates for Children (CASA)
- Providing funds to build a water well in Uganda
- Collaboration with PostWork LLC on a community clothes drive for the homeless
- A ‘Get Healthy” challenge collaboration with Blackpophealth
- Small emergency family loans
- Contributions to Generation Hope, an organization dedicated to ensuring all student parents have the opportunities to succeed
“Until we embrace that we are never truly free until everyone experiences freedom, we will miss knowing the true bliss of living.“
